AI Chatbots for African Businesses and Organizations

Africa is a mobile-first, conversation-first digital continent. WhatsApp, SMS, and messaging platforms are where business, community, and public services increasingly happen. Yet most AI chatbot products are designed for markets, languages, and workflows that do not reflect African realities.

Adili AI designs and builds conversational AI systems for African businesses, non-governmental organizations, and public-sector bodies. Our chatbots are built for the platforms your users actually use, in the languages they actually speak, integrated with the systems you actually run.

What we build

  • WhatsApp Business chatbots for customer service, order management, appointment scheduling, information delivery, and community engagement
  • Multilingual conversational agents supporting Swahili, English, and other African languages relevant to your users
  • Voice and IVR integrations for users who do not have consistent smartphone access
  • Internal automation chatbots for staff-facing workflows, HR, IT support, and knowledge management
  • Survey and data collection bots for research, monitoring and evaluation, and feedback gathering
  • Public information bots for government agencies, health organizations, and civic bodies that need to reach citizens at scale

Our technical approach

We build primarily on two proven platforms, integrated to deliver the reliability and flexibility our clients need:

Landbot. A no-code and low-code chatbot platform that supports WhatsApp Business API, web chat, and messaging integrations. Landbot allows us to design sophisticated conversational flows, integrate with third-party services, and deliver a professional user experience across channels. Its visual builder means clients can be trained to update conversational content directly, reducing long-term dependency on developers.

N8N. An open-source workflow automation platform that lets us connect chatbots to the systems that matter — customer relationship management platforms, databases, payment providers, email systems, and AI language models. N8N handles the logic behind the conversation: when a user asks a question, it can look up the answer in your database; when a user places an order, it can trigger fulfillment; when a user needs escalation, it can route the conversation to the right person.

Where clients need capabilities beyond what these platforms provide directly, we integrate large language models (including Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI models, and open-source alternatives such as Llama) to add natural language understanding, generation, and reasoning to the conversational layer.

We select the tooling based on what a project actually needs. We do not sell a fixed stack; we build what works for the specific business problem, the specific users, and the specific operational context.

Ethical AI in chatbot practice

Building chatbots is not a departure from our ethical commitments — it is where they take practical form. Every chatbot we deliver is designed with:

  • Transparency about being AI. Users are told clearly when they are interacting with an automated system, and how to reach a human when they need one.
  • Data protection. Conversations are handled in compliance with applicable data protection law, with clear policies on retention, access, and user rights.
  • Language and cultural appropriateness. We do not deploy AI in languages or contexts where its performance is inadequate. Where a language is not well-supported by available models, we say so honestly and design accordingly.
  • Human escalation. Every deployment includes a meaningful path to human support for users whose needs the bot cannot serve well.
  • Ongoing monitoring. We monitor deployed systems for error rates, user satisfaction, and unintended consequences, and iterate accordingly.

Who we work with

Our chatbot clients include:

  • Businesses seeking to automate customer service and communication at scale
  • NGOs and civil society organizations reaching communities through messaging platforms
  • Health organizations delivering information and appointment services
  • Educational institutions supporting students and administrators
  • Public-sector bodies communicating with citizens
  • Research organizations conducting surveys and gathering community feedback

Getting started

If you are considering a chatbot for your organization, we recommend beginning with a scoping conversation. Not every problem is a chatbot problem, and we would rather tell you honestly if an alternative approach would serve you better than build you a product that does not fit your needs.
