Who we are

Adili AI is an independent AI ethics and responsible AI development organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, Adili AI is the data controller for personal information collected through this website, adiliai.com.

This policy covers information collected through the website only. Data handling within client engagements is governed by the terms of each engagement.

Information we collect

We collect personal information in two ways:

  • Contact form submissions. When you write to us through the contact form, we collect your full name, organization, email address, country or location, the type of enquiry you select, and the contents of your message.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our server records standard technical information about each visit — including IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of access. We use these records for security and operational purposes only.

We do not collect personal information beyond what is described here, and we ask that you do not include sensitive personal information in your messages to us.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit through the contact form for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, where an enquiry leads to further discussion, to conduct that discussion.

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
  • We do not share your information with third parties, except where the law requires it or where a service provider — such as our hosting or email provider — processes it on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
  • We do not send marketing communications unless you have expressly consented to receive them.

Legal basis and compliance

Adili AI processes personal information in accordance with Kenya’s Data Protection Act (2019), which is our primary legal framework. Where we process the personal information of individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we also comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its UK equivalent.

Our legal bases for processing are:

  • Consent. You give consent when you submit the contact form and tick the consent checkbox. You may withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests. We process server logs to keep the website secure and operating properly. This processing is limited to what those purposes require.

Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Contact form submissions are retained while your enquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, after which they are deleted. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and are then deleted or anonymized.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act (2019) and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to, or request restriction of, our processing of your information
  • Withdraw consent you have previously given

If you believe we have handled your personal information improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

This website is designed to be light on tracking. If we use website analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting service that does not build cross-site profiles of visitors and does not sell data to third parties.
